WINTER REARS IT’S UGLY HEAD.

From the News Desk–

OH, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNING!!

OH, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNING!!

BLUSTERY WEATHER ACROSS THE CENTRAL U.P. THIS MORNING SERVED AS A REMINDER FOR MOTORISTS ABOUT THE CHALLENGES OF WINTER DRIVING.  AUTHORITIES IN MARQUETTE COUNTY REPORT SEVERAL TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS ON AREA STATE HIGHWAYS AND COUNTY ROADS CAUSED BY EXTREMELY SLICK CONDITIONS THAT WERE CREATED BY HEAVY, WET LAKE EFFECT SNOW SHOWERS.  STATE POLICE AT THE NEGAUNEE POST SAY THERE WERE AT LEAST TWO ROLLOVER ACCIDENTS IN WESTERN MARQUETTE COUNTY AND M-553 BETWEEN THE CROSSROADS AND SOUTH MARQUETTE WAS CLOSED FOR A TIME THIS MORNING DUE TO A TWO-VEHICLE HEAD-ON ACCIDENT.  NO WORD ON ANY INJURIES, BUT REPORTS SAY ALL OF THE ACCIDENTS APPEAR TO HAVE BEEN MINOR.

Whew! What a sloppy, icy, messy morning.  It’s a good thing the accidents were not as bad as they could have been.  It certainly served as a reminder, though, that winter is right around the corner.  Better get the tires and the rest of the car ready for the change!

LIZ BRAVED THE WEATHER FOR THE ISHPEMING SALVATION ARMY.

ISHPEMING SALVATION ARMY.

Thanks and congratulations to Liz Nevilla for making the trip in today to our Marquette studios from Ishpeming to talk about a special Chili Feed and Auction to benefit the Ishpeming Salvation Army coming up tomorrow night at the ISA’s office in Ishpeming.  She gave us an update on the items up for bid as well as some of the other help and volunteers needed by the agency.  To listen to Liz’s interview, please click “HERE“.  By the way, she was one of the most bubbly and energetic guests we ever had in the studios.  Unfortunately, since we are a pair of bumps on a log, we didn’t really know how to handle her energy!

STAY DRY AND WARM!

Well, everyone, I hope today’s little winter driving escapades served as an effective reminder to pay attention when out there driving in unfavorable conditions.  Be careful and be sure to stay dry and warm!
