U.S. Senator Carl Levin (D-Detroit)

MARQUETTE, MI – Great Lakes Radio News– Michigan’s Senior United States Senator, Carl Levin, joined Sunny 101.9 WKQS fm’s Mark and Walt in the Morning today to comment on the address made to Congress by President Obama about jobs.

In a statement released last night, Senator Levin made the following comments about the address:

“It was a rousing, patriotic call from the president to bipartisan action. The jobs program that the president outlined tonight with such urgency will accelerate economic recovery. The elements of this program have had bipartisan support in the past and would not add to the budget deficit. The people of Michigan and the nation need Congress to work together to create jobs. I hope our Republican colleagues will join us in doing so.”

The Detroit Democrat echoed those sentiments during the interview this morning and added comments about several other items, including his thoughts on the current morass in Congress.
