AND THEY’RE OFF!!!  INTO ANOTHER WEEK!

A PEEK OUT OF THE DOOR FROM THIS MORNING.

So here it is!  Monday once again!  OH BOY! Yes, that is sarcasm, but in all actuality, it’s really not that bad.  In fact, the string of big, mean, nasty winter storms missing us here in Marquette County has continued.  The poor folk in Wisconsin, Northern Illinois and Lower Michigan got smacked about again by Mother Nature with snow showers, freezing rain, high winds and more that canceled schools, closed airports and brought these areas to a standstill once again.

It has been cold and windy here, but no real snow to talk about.  In fact, if you check out this picture I took this morning outside of our studio doors, you can see that my truck and Mark’s car have very little snow on them and there isn’t any real snow on the ground to speak of.  Even the annual running of the UP 200 Sled Dog Championship was wrapped up early due to the lack of snow on the trails.  HMMM!  In comparison with the rest of the Midwest and portions of the East Coast, we’re a tropical winter getaway here in Marquette County!

HITTING THE COLD, COLD WATER FOR A GOOD CAUSE.

POLAR PLUNGERS HEIDI SWAJANEN AND MIKE PLOURDE.

Heidi Swajanen and Mike Plourde, organizers for the annual Special Olympics Polar Plunge, stopped in to give us an update on the event.  It’s planned for 11-am on Saturday, March 5-th on the frozen surface of beautiful Teal Lake in Negaunee.  All proceeds raised at the event will go to benefit Special Olympics programs and events in Michigan.  Mark Evans had a chance to chat with Heidi and Mike to find out more about the specifics of the Polar Plunge itself and how you can get involved.  To listen to the interview please click “HERE” .   To log on to the official website please take a moment and click “HERE“.

THE TWO OF US ARE PLUNGING AS WELL!

NO WORRIES ABOUT SHRINKAGE AT THIS TIME!

Yes, your intrepid morning show hosts have been challenged to participate, and since Mark and I are both vets of doing this, we have decided to do it again.  We will be plunging with the rest of the crazies at Teal Lake.

And it appears we will be appearing as Gilligan and The Skipper from the “Gilligan’s Island” TV Show.  It sounds like a lot of fun and if you would like to support us, click “HERE” for a link to our fund raising page.

Hey!  Be sure to give and give ’til it hurts!

CHEERS!
