MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – A Michigan landmark will open its doors to the public, when the Soo Locks hosts its annual open house, known as Soo Locks Engineer’s Day, tomorrow in Sault St. Marie, MI.  The day celebrates the engineers who built the locks, the men and women who have worked on the locks and the men and women who still do.

Linda Hoath, Executive Director of the Sault Area Convention and Visitor’s Bureau joined Sunny 101.9’s Mark and Walt in the Morning today to invite everyone to make the trip to explore the Soo Locks complex and enjoy the rare opportunity to walk across the Lock walls.

She explained how the locks make it possible for freighters to traverse the 21-foot drop between Lake Superior and the lower Great Lakes. To obtain a real understanding of how this engineering marvel works, only a visit will do.
