LIVING IN UPPER MICHIGAN IS GRAND!  SLED DOGS & SNOWSTORMS!!

Good old snow covered and slippery U.P. roads!

Good old snow covered and slippery U.P. roads!

Well, the snow has stopped in the Marquette area, but the poor folks in Munising are still getting more than their fair share of the white stuff.  More school closures, extended winter storm watches and pure winter fun.  AHHH, the Upper Peninsula in February.  Nothing better!  Is there?

Reminds you of home, eh, comrade?

Of course as you can see here, Marquette was not spared the fun of winter over the last couple of days, either.  This lovely shot from the city of Marquette shows that icy winds and blowing snow made parts of the city look more desolate than a Russian gulag.

UP 200 & MIDNIGHT RUN SLED DOG RACE WEEKEND GETS UNDERWAY!

The UPSDA's Pat Torreano

The UPSDA's Pat Torreano.

Thanks to Pat Torreano with the Upper Peninsula Sled Dog Association for stopping by the Sunny Studios this morning to talk about the UP 200 and Midnight Run sled dog races that are going on in Marquette and Alger Counties this weekend.  Great weather and copious amounts of snow along with a high influx of mushers have added up to what is shaping up to be a great race weekend.  For race info and more, click “HERE“.  To hear Pat, click “HERE“.

Here’s hoping you all have a great weekend!  Take in the sled dog events and enjoy what we have here in our neck of the woods that makes it the great place it is!

Happy UP 200, everyone!

Happy UP 200 & Midnight Run, everyone!
