HEY!  PUT THAT CIGARETTE OUT!

TODAY IS THE DAY.

Today is the 35th annual Great American Smokeout, sponsored by the American Cancer Society.  It is an effort to encourage smokers to use the day to make a plan to quit, or to plan in advance and quit smoking. By doing so, smokers will be taking an important step towards a healthier life – one that can lead to reducing cancer risk.  Vicky Rakowski of the American Cancer Society joined the show this morning to talk about the smokeout.  She says quitting smoking is not easy, but it can be done. To have the best chance of quitting successfully, you need to know what you’re up against, what your options are, and where to go for help.

HEY! YOU NEVER KNOW WHO’S LISTENING!

THE EFFERVESCENT MISS VICK FROM WLUC TV6!

Congratulations to our latest winner of the Great Doughnut Race, the one and only U.P. sports maven, Mike Ludlum of TV 6.  He was the first correct caller with the correct answer to the question, “What Major League Baseball Hall of Famer was known as “The Vacuum Cleaner”?  The answer, Brooks Robinson.  He picked up a certificate good for two dozen doughnuts from the Huron Mountain Bakery in Marquette.  HOORAY!!  Good for Mike!!

BUT, WAIT A MINUTE….That’s not TV6’s Mike Ludlum in this picture!

It’s TV6’s very own morning personality, Vicky Crystal!  The “much too busy to go to the radio station” Mike Ludlum sent her instead to do his errands!  She’s so nice to him!  It was cool to see Vicky, though, after all of these years!

Hope the doughnuts were tasty, you loveable TV guys!

CHEERS!
