Thank you and Merry Christmas!!

SUNNY 101.9 and BioLife staff present the gifts to the Jacobetti Veterans.

Those words filled the halls of the Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette this morning as we delivered all of your gifts to the veterans who live at the home.  It was a great wrap-up to our annual effort to  “Remember Our Veterans At Christmas”.

Thanks to the support of Biolife Plasma Services of Marquette, we were able to get the message out to all of you about the need for simple, yet important, items needed at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans.

The Jacobetti Veterans assemble and select their gifts.

Delivering the several boxes of items and your financial contributions to the home was wonderful, as was watching the reactions of the veterans.

During the Holidays, we remember to help out those in need, but it’s also important to keep in mind that need knows no season.  The Jacobetti Home for Veterans is constantly facing an uphill battle for funding for items, programs and more.  Take the time to find out more about the home and how you can help!

Marcia from BioLife gets a heartfelt thanks.

Remember, if you can’t help financially, then give of your time.  Volunteers are always needed at the Jacobetti Home for Veterans.

On behalf of all of us at SUNNY 101.9 WKQS-FM and BioLife Plasma Services,

Mark & Walt wish you a Merry Christmas!

For this Christmas, Mark & Walt in the Morning present you with a Holiday treat.

Merry Christmas from us to you, and we hope you enjoy!

Have a safe and enjoyable Christmas and a great Holiday Season!

“Yes Virginia…there IS a Santa Claus!”

Dr. James Panowski.

A long time friend of the show, Dr. James Panowski, now retired from the Northern Michigan University Theater Department and the Forest Roberts Theater, contacted us a couple of weeks back with a special idea for Christmas.

He thought it would be a good idea to have him come to the studios and read the editorial from the New York Sun newspaper from 1897 that coined the phrase, “Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus,” that we still use to this day.

So we agreed and without further ado, here’s Dr. P spreading some Christmas Cheer!  Please click on the link below to have a listen:

The ubiquitous Grinch popped in on Mark Evans as he was innocently delivering the day’s weather forecast shortly after 8 o’clock this morning.  The Grinch used the opportunity to announce to the listeners of his plans to steal the Christmas Tree scheduled to be lit tonight in Marquette Township.

According to the Grinch, stealing the tree will crush the Christmas spirit of Marquette Township as they attempt to start this new tradition.  Mark reminded the Grinch that there will be law enforcement officials out on the lookout for him tonight and that Marquette County Sheriff Mike Lovelace has promised to keep the tree and the spirit safe.
