MARQUETTE, MI – Great Lakes Radio News – A popular event designed to get neighbors and community members acquainted with their law enforcement, fire and rescue personnel is coming up this Saturday in Marquette.  The Marquette Township Fire Department is hosting a “National Day Out” gathering as part of events going on at Lions Field.

Marquette Township Fire Department Captain and Township Board of Trustees Member Dan Pompo joined Sunny 101.9’s Mark & Walt in the Morning today to preview what’s going on this weekend.  He outlined what departments will be taking part in the event and also what food items are being cooked up by the firemen for purchase by the general public.

MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Marquette Township Board of Trustees is currently looking for input from Township residents concerning a series of proposals for relocation or renovation of the Township’s administrative and service facilities.

Marquette Township Manager Randy Girard recently spoke with Great Lakes Radio News and outlined the efforts of the Board to gather input about four separate proposals.  The proposals are currently under review by the Board and public comment is being taken at a forum being held during the public comment section of their regular meetings.

The Marquette Township Board of Trustees is continuing with an effort to gather and organize public input for the purpose of strategic planning.  The Board is strongly encouraging township residents to attend the scheduled meetings over the remainder of this month in order to make sure that their opinions are heard as the future of the township is developed.  The next scheduled public input session is on Thursday, April 15th at the Township Fire Hall at 6:00pm.  The final session is set for Monday, April 19th at the Township Hall.

The Board will also be holding two sessions at the Township Hall to consider the formal establishing of the strategic plan for the township.  Those meetings are scheduled for Monday, April 26th and Thursday, April 29th.  The meetings will begin at 6:00pm.  Township officials are asking a representative from each neighborhood in the township to attend each session in order to ensure all voices are heard as the strategic plan is developed for the rest of this year and into the long-term future of Marquette Township.
