THE MAJOR IS FAR FROM BEING A MINOR!

"CAKE OR DEATH?" "CAKE, PLEASE!"

Today is the 50-th birthday of our own Major Discount, Todd Noordyk, the owner and operator of our parent company Great Lakes Radio, Inc.  The cake is to the left and the birthday boy is on the air!  Congratulations to the Grand Old Man of Great Lakes Radio.  Hopefully the next 50 years are as eventful as the last!

Happy Birthday, Todd!

Be Safe and Fruitful!

IT’S ANOTHER Y WEDNESDAY!

LAURA AND JENNA FROM THE YMCA.

Thanks to Laura Murawski and Jenna Zdunek with the YMCA of Marquette County for joining us on the big program this morning for the latest edition of “Y” Wednesday.  They joined us for a full rundown of programs and activities that are currently underway at both of the locations of the YMCA in Marquette County, as well as those that are planned for the near future.  They also discussed activities for children AND adults to be utilized during the summer months to keep kids and their parents active while school is out.  To listen to the interview with Laura and Jenna, please take a moment and click “HERE“.  For more information about the YMCA of Marquette County, please click “HERE“.

FULL-UP TODAY, KIDS!

BIRTHDAY BOY GOOFUS!

What a show!  From geocaching in Negaunee to a new church in Ishpeming to the latest exhibit and reception at the the DeVos Art Museum at NMU in Marquette!  AND IT WAS GOOFUS’ BIRTHDAY!! There isn’t another show on the radio dial that covers the Marquette County Community like Mark & Walt in the Morning.  And on top of it all…we even gave away tickets to see Grand Funk Railroad and Don Felder, formerly of the Eagles.  We do more in four hours than many shows do in four weeks!  AND WE LOVE IT!!

GEOCACHING IN NEGAUNEE WITH GEORGE.

GEOCACHING GEORGE SEDLACHECK

Thanks to George Sedlacheck who stopped in today with the Marquette County Health Department to tell us about a clever and exciting way to get out and get some exercise and enjoy the Heikki Lunta Winter Fest in Negaunee.  He told us about the third annual Geocaching Event being held this Sunday in Negaunee.  Interested parties can gather at the Negaunee Senior Center at noon on Sunday and head out to find hidden treasure.  To listen to George’s comments, click “HERE” to access his interview.  For more about the Heikki Lunta Winter Fest and the Negaunee Irontown Association, click “HERE“.

SLIDE ON DOWN TO THE CROSS BRIDGE AND GET YERSELF SOME CHURCHIN’ UP!

THE ONE AND ONLY "REV KEV"!

Reverend Kevin McIlhany visited our studios this morning to tell us more about a new church that he is organizing called the Cross Bridge Church.  The church is all about the celebration of God without a lot of the trappings of traditional church services.  The first service will be this Sunday at the Country Village Conference Center in the Country Village in Ishpeming and gets underway at 10-am.  To listen to Reverend Kevin’s comments, click “HERE” to listen to his interview.  Find out more about the church by accessing their website by clicking “HERE“.

YOOPER “FINNDIAN” ALASKAN ART AT THE DEVOS ART MUSEUM.

DEVOS DIRECTOR AND CURATOR MELISSA MATUSCAK.

DeVos Art Museum Director and Curator Melissa Matuscak joined us to talk about the latest exhibit at the DeVos on the campus of Northern Michigan University.  She told us about the exhibit by artist Erica Lord, who is from the U.P. and is a Native American with some Finnish ancestry who has spent time in both Alaska and Upper Michigan.  Her art reflects the balance between and perceptions of diversity in today’s world.  To listen to the interview with Melissa, please click “HERE“, and for more about the DeVos and NMU, please click “HERE“.

WITH THAT, WE ARE AWAY FOR ANOTHER DAY!

Tune in tomorrow for more fun and information and even more concert tickets!  We’ll see you then on “Mark & Walt in the Morning”.

See Ya!
