The crowd awaits.

The Grand Prize!

Thanks to everyone who came out last night to Flanigan’s Bar in Marquette for the Great Lakes Radio Detroit Tiger Ticket Giveaway.  We had a ball watching the game and hanging out at one of our favorite places in town.

Our own Joe Duckworth gets the crowd ready!

Although the Tigers took it on the chin and lost the game last night to Baltimore 6 to 5, the party was fun and it was great to see so many folks out and about.  A special thanks to Don Marple and the rest of the staff at Flanigan’s for making the evening roll along smoothly!

Also, thanks to Tom Babcock and Pike Distributing for the game tickets and setting up the Labatt’s Blue and Blue Light specials.  And thank you to the folks at Mueller’s Pizza for the specials we enjoyed at the party!

Congratulations, Red!

We send out a special congratulations to the winner, Brian Smalls.  He’s better known as “Red” around town and he was very excited to win the tickets.  As he said last night, he’s never been to a game at Comerica Park, and he’s definitely going to the game.  Congratulations, Red!

Thanks to everybody who took part and made it happen!  The night was truly a home run!

Morning guys Mark & Walt flank Ham.

MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Congratulations to Marquette, MI’s own Mark Hamari for being the winner of the Labatt Blue Light Detroit Tigers Grand Slam Giveaway.  Mark, or “Ham” as he’s better known, was selected as the winner of a regulation Louisville Slugger baseball bat enclosed in a custom display case featuring the Detroit Tigers old English “D” and the Blue Light logo.

Ham, who was visibly shaken with the win and overcome with emotion, said he would proudly display the Tigers bat along with his other sports memorabilia at his store, Marquette Wallpaper and Paint in Downtown Marquette.  So why not stop in at the store and congratulate him on this momentous victory?  Pick up a couple gallons of paint while you’re there.  You know you need it!

Special thanks to Tom Babcock and Pike Distributing, distributors of Labatt and Labatt Blue Light.

The 2010 Keweenaw Brewing Company/ Sunny 101.9 WKQS “NAME THE BREW” tour is now in the books.  With a rousing wrap-up last night at the UpFront & Company in Marquette, the final names were collected from the fine folks who gathered to sample the Scottish Ale and submit their ideas.  The last finalist was chosen and now goes onto the master list being presented to the folks at KBC in Houghton.   Last night’s selection is now posted on the “Name The Brew” page here on the blog.  It’s a pretty good one, especially if you know anything about hockey history here in Marquette County.  Head on over to the page and check it out!

Thanks to everyone who took part and entered their ideas.  A special thanks to Tom Babcock and Pike Distributing and of course, a VERY special thanks to Dick Gray and Paul Boissevain, the creators and owners of the Keweenaw Brewing Company.  Keep an eye out for their Scottish Ale hitting the streets soon…it just may have YOUR name on it!
