Lorrie Hayes of the Flat Broke Blues Band with the new CD.

MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Upper Michigan’s very own Flat Broke Blues Band is having a CD release party this week in Marquette,  MI.

The band is performing this Friday evening at 6pm at the UpFront & Company nightclub to celebrate the release of “FB 3” the band’s third studio album.

Flat Broke’s lead singer Lorrie Hayes joined SUNNY 101.9’s Mark and Walt in the Morning today to promote the event.

Lorrie was joined by show co-host and fellow band member Walt Lindala to chat about the evening’s schedule and more about the CD.  They talked about writing and producing the music on the CD and about the process of writing and recording.

Tom Baldini, MQT Econ Club Board Member.

MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News)– The Economic Club of Marquette County is holding their next regular meeting and dinner next Monday evening in Marquette.

Tom Baldini, board member of the Econ Club, joined Mark and Walt in the Morning today to preview the upcoming event.  The speaker this time around will be David Ivan, who is the author of the Michigan State University small city survey.

The evening gets underway with a social hour at 6pm followed by the dinner, the speaker and some Q&A.  The evening is held at the Ramada Inn in Marquette.

Jim Iwanicki, Marquette County Road Commission

MARQUETTE, MI – Great Lakes Radio News– The Marquette County Road Commission is holding two public events this week to gather input from concerned residents about a proposal to build a new 22-mile long road in Western Marquette County.

Jim Iwanicki, with the Marquette County Road Commission, joined Mark and Walt in the Morning today to discuss the sessions.  The meetings will take public comment and answer questions about the proposed County Road 595 to run from northwest Marquette County to US-41 in Humboldt Township.

They have been planned for tomorrow (Tuesday, August 30th) at the Citizen’s Forum at Lakeview Arena in Marquette and for Wednesday (August 31st) at the Ishpeming Township Hall.  The sessions will run from 12noon to 3pm and then from 6pm to 9pm both days.

If people cannot make the sessions, comments can be mailed to the Marquette County Road Commission Office at 1610 N. Second Street in Ishpeming, or e-mailed to lbrogan@marqroad.org by Tuesday, September 6-th.
