Chicken on the grill at Walt's house!

MARQUETTE, MI – The 4th of July holiday weekend has come and gone.  Overall, it seemed fairly quiet around Marquette County, which is definitely good news.

Yes, there were a few traffic accidents and a capsized boat in Marquette’s Lower Harbor, but that was about it.  There were concerns and even fears that with the hot weather and the extremely crowded beaches there would be water tragedies like last year.  Luckily, that was not the case.  Kudos to all who followed the rules and to all who patrolled the lake shore and the public beaches, keeping everybody safe.

I spent the Fourth walking in two parades, one in Ishpeming and the other in Marquette.  Then a few hours of relaxation, followed by the grilling of a bunch of chicken for dinner.  That was followed by the Marquette fireworks display and a good night’s sleep.

Ahhhh, the Fourth of July.
