GOOD MONDAY MORNING, MARQUETTE COUNTY!!

Yes, I know it’s hot!  Anyone who was trying to sleep last night around the County without air conditioning knows exactly what I’m talking about.  The forecast calls for 90’s today and upper 80’s for the next couple of days.  So far, I’ve heard from a series of folks who are traveling around the country who are letting us know that today is going to be warmer than parts of Florida, Texas and Oklahoma!  I have to admit, that’s really something!  Something to hate, that is.

So anyway, in lieu of  any funny anecdotes or whatnot having to do with the weather, I have decided post a series of community interview updates for your listening pleasure.  Enjoy!

NEGAUNEE SCHOOLS FACE BUDGET PRESSURES.

NEGAUNEE PUBLIC SCHOOLS SUPERINTENDENT JAMES DEROCHER.

Negaunee Public Schools Superintendent James Derocher joined us in the studios to discuss some of the steps recently taken by the Negaunee Schools’ Board of Education to address a 1-point-5 million dollar budget shortfall in their operating budget.  The first round of action included the layoff of seven teaching positions in an effort to save the district approximately 433-thousand dollars.  That still leaves just over a million dollars in further cuts having to made by the district in a limited period of time.  Superintendent Derocher discussed some of the options and challenges faced by the district to carry through those remaining cuts and how they will affect the school.  To listen to the full interview with Superintendent Derocher, please click “HERE“.
