MARQUETTE COUNTY’S IN THE HEAT OF IT TODAY!!

From the National Weather Service office in Negaunee Township:

The maximum temperature so far today at the National Weather Service (NWS) in Negaunee Township was 89 degrees, which breaks the record high of 86 set back in 1992. This is also 45 degrees warmer than the high temperature of 44 degrees that was recorded yesterday, May 19th! This is the largest swing from one high temperature to the next high temperature on record. The previous record was April 30th to May 1st 1992, which had a 36 degree high temperature swing. The high temperature on April 30th, 1992 was 44 degrees and the high on May 1st, 1992 was 80 degrees.

Today is the first day this year that the mercury has risen above 80 degrees at the NWS office in Negaunee Township. If we hit 90 degrees today, it will be the first time we have hit 90 this early in the season since May 21, 1994, a day over 15 years ago. The low temperature this morning was 37 degrees. The temperature swing for the day so far is 52 degrees! The temperature swing for the today is greater than the high temperature recorded at the office yesterday!
