POSITIVE ENERGY AND POSITIVE VIBES!

Today was one of those days that really makes me happy and proud to do what we do on Mark & Walt in the Morning.  We had two groups in that are community-based grass roots organizations that strive to make life better for folks in Marquette County.  They are volunteer-driven and run on shoestring budgets that are suffering economically right along with the people they endeavor to serve through their respective groups.

In fact, as I looked at our scheduling book, I saw that earlier this week we talked with the Marquette Women’s Center as well as the Ishpeming Salvation Army.  Tomorrow, it’s the United Way of Marquette County.  It’s amazing to hear about all of the GOOD that’s out there in Marquette County and we are pleased to give it the airtime it deserves.  We’ve been doing that since Day One around here and over 11 years later, we continue to be THE station to turn to for true coverage of events and activities going on in and around Marquette County.

All I can say is that it’s easy for a morning show to hide behind playing “more music”, or “10 in a row”.  It’s also easy to be a bitter, corpulent windbag of a host who says his show is there to serve the community when actually it’s a facade to allow him to spew underhanded untrue attacks against his competition.

I know I am slanted, and I know I am biased, but I like how we have focused on community interviews, community service and all things community since the beginning.  It’s what a station is supposed to do!  And I’m proud say that WE DO!

There truly is a lot of good going on here in Marquette County!!  Well Done, everybody!
