HERE COMES THE UPDATES!

WALT ON THE MIC.

WALT ON THE MORNING SHOW MIC.

OK, blogknockers…I’ve been threatening this day for some time, and here it is!  Prepare to be overloaded with information as we do an interview clearinghouse update here on the show blog.  Due to a series of various issues, the following interviews from the Mark and Walt in the Morning show from over the last few weeks have not been able to be posted, but here they are after a slight delay!  Without further ado…interview number 1:

IT’S HEIKKI LUNTA TIME AGAIN IN THE IRONTOWN!

DON GLADWELL FROM THE NEGAUNEE IRONTOWN ASSOCIATION.

Thanks to Don Gladwell with the Negaunee Irontown Association for coming by to chat with us about the annual Heikki Lunta Winterfest.  It’s going on this weekend in Negaunee and features a wide variety of events and activities including blooperball, a fishing tournament and the extremely popular wintertime fireworks display on Saturday night.  To listen to Don’s interview, please click “HERE” and to link up with the Negaunee Irontown Association’s website, please click “HERE“.

A NATURALLY NORTHERN UPDATE.

NORTHERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY PRESIDENT DR. LES WONG.

Thanks to Northern Michigan University President Dr. Les Wong for joining us to discuss the new semester at NMU.  As part of his usual semesterly visits with us, Dr. Wong outlined some of the positive things that are going on at the Marquette school.  Instead of the usual budget-based claptrap, we talked about the good developments at the university and how it all is benefitting the students, faculty and staff as well as the entire Marquette County community.  To hear the comments of President Wong, please click “HERE” and to head over to the Northern Michigan University website, please click “HERE“.

TALKING MARIJUANA AND DUMB CRIMINALS!

ATTORNEY KARL NUMINEN.

ATTORNEY KARL NUMINEN.

Let’s roll up another one and talk with Karl Numinen, Attorney at Law, about the questions and misconceptions surrounding the recently passed Medical Marijuana Law in Michigan.  There are a lot of misunderstood aspects of this law, and Karl did a great job of bringing understanding to this snakepit of confusion.  He also regaled us with a dumb criminal story from his files and we talked about the public smoking ban going into effect this spring around the state of Michigan.  To listen in to Karl’s comments about these matters, please click “HERE“.  For pizza and other munchies, click “HERE“.

Y WEDNESDAY COMMUNITY UPDATE.

THE "Y"'s LISA COOMBS-GEROU.

Lisa Coombs-Gerou from the YMCA of Marquette County gave us an update of activities going on at the “Y” as part of her regular “Y Wednesday” in-studio visit.  She told us about a few events going on this week at the “Y”, but the bulk of the conversation dealt with the “HealthSeekers 2010” program beginning soon.  The program is a 12-week plan to help people become more active and healthful in their day-to-day lives and in their personal food and activity choices.  To hear more from Lisa about this motivational activity, please click “HERE” to listen to her interview.  To connect with the website of the YMCA of Marquette County, please click “HERE“.

MORE HEALTH AND MORE FITNESS!

FITNESS FAN JENNA ROBINSON.

In the heady days after a New Year, one goes through a fight with personal resolutions made as part of the celebrations.  One of the most common is the desire to get back into shape.  Marquette County is currently experiencing a renaissance of fitness facilities and opportunities.  Jenna Robinson from Ringside Fitness in Marquette joined us recently to discuss options available for those of you who made that resolution and genuinely wish to keep it.  She let us know that it’s never too late to start getting fit and anyone can truly do it.  To listen to Jenna’s inspirational words, please click “HERE“.  To head to Ringside Fitness’ website by clicking “HERE“.
