MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Center for Native American Studies at Northern Michigan University is presenting an evening of Native American performing arts this week on campus.

“Remembering the Songs” is the title of a film that is being shown this Wednesday in Room 102 of Jamrich Hall on campus.  The free showing starts at 7:30pm.  The film will be followed by a series of Native musicians, poets and writers sharing their work.

The film and the presentations are part of the “Crossing Borders with HeartLines” project and features visiting performers with the Center for American Indian Policy and Applied Research at the Salish Kootenai College in Pablo, Montana.

April Lindala, the Director of the Center for Native American Studies at NMU, and Julie Cajune, Executive Director of the CAIPAR, joined SUNNY 101.9’s Mark Evans this morning to discuss the evening and what folks attending can expect.
