THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SAYS IT’S COLD.  WELL, NO KIDDING!!!

According to an interesting little tidbit of information I picked up today, the National Weather Service office in Negaunee Township says that this June has been the coldest on on record since they started keeping records in 1961.  Well!  Ain’t that an amazin’ revelation!?!  This morning was rainy and somewhere in the ballpark of 40 degrees or so.  Now that would be GRAND in February, but this is June 9th!   Did you catch that?  JUNE 9th!

I think I’m going to start having issues with this weather pretty darn soon.  I think others are too, and if it doesn’t break soon, I think we’re going to have another “stickin’ season”, which is my pet name for the time of year, usually in the spring, around late March or so when people up here get tired of the monotonous gray winter weather and start stabbing each other with knives and forks and whatever other farm or other type of implements of destruction they can locate!  Here’s hoping the sun really breaks through soon and warms us all up!

Marquette Area Public Schools Superintendent Jon Hartwig stopped by the Sunny Studios this morning to give us an update about the layoff of a dozen teaching staff members and a school psychologist by the Board of Education last night.  The layoffs came as a result of operating budget shortfalls, both concrete and predicted.  To hear more from Superintendent Hartwig, you can listen to his exclusive interview with Sunny 101.9 by clicking “HERE“.

IT CAN’T BE COLD…THE KIWANIANS ARE GOING GOLFING!!

KIWANIS

KIWANIS

Thanks to Jim Divine, the President of the Marquette Breakfast Kiwanis, for stopping in to tell us about the 2009 Kiwanis Gamble Scramble Golf Outing.  The event is happening this weekend at Gentz’ Golf Course and is a major fund raiser for the group.  We also chatted about what the Kiwanis do and how folks can get involved with the club if they would like.  To listen to Jim’s interview and find out more about the Gamble Scramble and the Marquette Breakfast Kiwanis, click “HERE.”

OH WELL,  MAYBE IT WON”T BE SO BAD!

Here’s hoping for temperatures in the 70’s by this weekend!  Chin up everybody.  We’ll see you all tomorrow!  Oh…yeah… GO WINGS!
